DMX 5.0 has finally arrived

After 3 and 1/2 years of work, 7 beta releases, 5 weeks after schedule, at Aug 7, 2020 DMX 5.0 has finally arrived.

The focus of this final milestone was on improving the DMX development experience. The APIs are consolidated, and a DMX Developer Guide is available, as well as API docs. There are minor Webclient UI improvements and crucial bug fixes as well. For more information and download link see this forum posting.

Note: since version 5 DeepaMehta is called "DMX".

DMX 5.0-beta-4 released

DMX 5.0-beta-4 is released at July 22, 2019. Two and a half years in the making of DMX (formerly "DeepaMehta 5") this is the first release that provides Data Guarantee. That is when you install a newer version in the future (beta-5, …) your content will be migrated automatically. Start with DMX 5.0-beta-4 today and your content will be safe. Further highlight features and improvements of this release include Pinnable Detail Panel, up to 10 times faster topicmap rendering performance, improved interaction with topic/association details, and improved handling of HTML links. DeepaMehta 5.0-beta-3 released

5 weeks after the 2nd beta the 3rd beta of DeepaMehta 5.0 is released at May 29, 2019. New features and improvements regard mostly the Webclient. Highlights include: 1) LDAP login through external plugin, 2) new role types can be created interactively, 3) configurable topic icon colors, and topic/association background color. There is also a couple of crucial bug fixes, e.g. on macOS the Webclient works with Chrome/Chromium again. For details see the Release Notes. DeepaMehta 5.0-beta-2 released

12 weeks after the 1st beta DeepaMehta 5.0-beta-2 is released at Apr 23, 2019. There are a lot of new features and improvements in the DeepaMehta Webclient. In the backend the focus was on database consolidation. For detailed information about this release see the Release Notes. For general information about DeepaMehta see the README. For questions or support please use our new DMX forum. You can sign in with your Google or GitHub account.

Note that DeepaMehta 5 is rebranded "DMX". DeepaMehta 5 and DMX is the same; same codebase, same features, same license (GPL 3 or later).

DeepaMehta 5.0-beta-1 released

After 2 years of development DeepaMehta 5.0-beta-1 has been released at Jan 30, 2019. Dramatic changes include both, frontend and backend.

The all-new DM5 webclient delivers all the missing features wanted in DM4 for a long time. It features a modern look and feel and provides developers a comfortable development experience. The backend introduces a new identity/value data model. For the first time the problem of updating highly connected semantic data structures without generating semantic side effects is solved at the DM Core level.

We have launched myDM, it's a software service designed for everyone interested in collaborative knowledge management. You are welcome to join us sharing knowledge. The donation based service is in public beta for some months now and with your feedback we'll keep improving it. DeepaMehta 4.7 released

DeepaMehta 4.7 is a maintenance release that focuses on both, multi-user server installations, and touch devices. The DeepaMehta file repository is now under access control, in particular private and collaborative file repositories are now supported. Administrators can interactively configure a disk quota (for file uploads) on a per-user basis and enable/disable user accounts. For the first time the DeepaMehta webclient is usable also on touch devices. For plugin developers new features include a configuration facility, and webclient support for hierarchical menus. DeepaMehta 4.6 released

DeepaMehta 4.6 is a maintenance release that comes with an extended DM meta-model, a lot of small improvements, and (partly overdue) bug fixes. The extended meta-model allows you to define more expressive data models which results in more "natural" topic networks with more dense semantics. As a first application of the extended meta-model the DM Contacts model is revised. For detailed information see the Release Notes.

DeepaMehta 4.5 released

4.5 is a major release that brings DeepaMehta's basis for Sharing/Collaboration to the next level. For the first time the user can control how (if at all) the content of a workspace is accessible/editable by other users. To accommodate typical sharing/collaboration scenarios 5 access levels are pre-defined: Private, Confidential, Collaborative, Public, and Common. The access levels are enforced by the DeepaMehta backend, so that confidential content is never exposed to unauthorized users. For the first time DeepaMehta supports Privacy. For plugin developers the highlight feature of DeepaMehta 4.5 is Service injection for migrations. This is helpful for the development of upgradable plugins. DeepaMehta 4.4 is a maintenance release that brings great improvements for plugin developers. Highlights include Service Injection, Declarative Transactions, and a significantly simplified API. Further changes include: • Compatibility with a new plugin: DM4 Geospatial (optional install) for performing geographical "Within Distance" queries. • Felix HTTP is replaced by OPS4J Pax Web for better interoperability with the Karaf ecosystem. DeepaMehta 4.2 released

DeepaMehta 4.2 is a maintenance release that brings bug fixes and additions to the Plugin Development Framework. New is a facility for Custom Events: plugins can define its own specific event types. Furthermore this release is compatible with 2 new plugins (optional install): WebSockets provide plugin developers the basis for server push, and the experimental D3.js Renderer plugin demonstrates how the D3.js library can be utilized for rendering topicmaps. DeepaMehta 4.1.3 released

DeepaMehta 4.1.3 brings a lot of useful GUI improvements and, for developers, a View Customization Framework. The Topicmap Panel provides increased means of expression, higher information density, and better usability. This new look&feel is realized as a plugin (Box Renderer), so if you don't like it, you can switch it off. The Detail Panel's information display is much more understandable and shows less redundancy. Developers can hook in drawing and event handling behavior in the default Topicmap Renderer whereupon 2 topic rendering flavors are supported: draw-on-Canvas and DOM-rendering.
Furthermore you can work with particularly complex data models ("aggregated composites") in the Webclient, and you can install/start/stop plugins without restart. For an extensive list of new features, changes, and fixes see the Release Notes.

DeepaMehta 4.1.1 released

While DeepaMehta 4.1.1 has not much to offer for the end user it brings crucial bug fixes and various enhancements in the Plugin Development Framework. Main features comprise Timestamps (not yet user perceivable) and a new Time API; better performance through exploitation of the browser cache; and Edit Conflict Detection for supporting collaborative work. Furthermore, a new Property API allows attaching arbitrary metadata to topics and associations. Numeric metadata is trie-indexed which allows for performant time- and and geo-based range queries. DeepaMehta 4.1 released

On Mar 11, 2013 DeepaMehta 4.1 has been released. This is the most important DM4 release as it comes with a Data Sustainability Guarantee. For the first time, data you enter in DM4 is guaranteed to be transferred to all future DM4 releases automatically. So, after more than 18 months of development, the DM4 experimental stage is now over. You can begin productive DM4-based projects now.

Besides that, DM 4.1 brings minor improvements in usability and functionality. Crucial access control related bugs and other bugs are fixed. The plugin framework simplifies development by providing a DB-attached CompositeValue object. For a complete list of changes in DM 4.1 and further details see the Release Notes.
